GiPA publishes third workshop analysis

GiPA UK today published its third report on the activity of the 420 UK garages and bodyshops that it has tracked over the five weeks since the government announced strict measures to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak.

“While the situation of open and closed workshops has remained relatively stable on week 17 [20-26 April], we saw this past week that some were starting to reopen,” said Quentin Le Hetet, general manager at GiPA UK.

“In terms of workshop activity, the cumulative annual workshop turnover that was expected during the last five weeks, but not generated due to lockdown measures, has reached 5.8%.

“This does not mean that all 5.8% of the annual turnover is lost for good, however. But while a share can be recovered in 2020, there is also a share that will not be. The volume of business that can be recovered depends on how the industry will be able to operate in the coming weeks and how, and when, drivers will start reusing their cars,” added Le Hetet.
