Fuel prices remain below £1

Fuel pump prices remain below £1 although government data has revealed they have been rising steadily in the past fortnight.

Morrisons has confirmed its petrol prices will remain at 99.7p per litre for the time being, while Tesco and Asda’s petrol costs are also below £1 for another week.

RAC spokesperson Simon Williams said the low prices were “very fair” but warned it was unclear how long they would remain at their current rates.

Petrol costs have risen by 0.87 pence over the past fortnight with diesel also up by just 0.28 pence.

Meanwhile, wholesale costs have risen dramatically over the past month. They were as low as 67.7 pence at the end of April but climbed over the next six weeks and were up to 74.5 pence per litre when Morrisons first introduced its under £1 per litre offer.
