Aston Martin to reopen Wales factory
Aston Martin has announced it will reopen its St Athan factory on 3 May. It has also revealed that its senior leadership team has agreed pay cuts of up to 35%.
The St Athan site employs 300 people and has been closed since 25 March. It will follow Public Health Wales guidelines to ensure a safe resumption of operations, and will take learnings into account when it opens its main factory in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
Meanwhile, chief executive Andy Palmer is waiving 35% of his base salary, while non-executive directors are waiving 35% of their fees. Vice-presidents have agreed to a 20% reduction in their base salary and other members of senior management have been asked to accept pay cuts of up to 10%.
The salary reductions will apply for a three-month period from 1 April.
