STL completes its largest project ahead of time

STL Spraybooth has completed its largest project to date, a £4m refurbishment for Smart Fleet Solutions.

Work has started again at Smart Fleet Solutions’ site in Cold Meece, Staffordshire, less than a year after it was badly damaged by a fire.

As part of the project, STL installed a series of new state-of-the-art spraybooths and a bespoke lighting service that Smart Fleet Solutions is now planning on installing across their other sites.

Peter Mellor, operations director, said: “We cannot speak highly enough of STL’s role in the refurbishment. We have always enjoyed a close working relationship with the team and we saw this as an opportunity to redesign the site and really make a difference to our operations.

“The STL design team gave us lots of advice and consultation working with us at the start of the project. And then the install teams and the project managed by Jim Dallas were both excellent. They were all very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble for them.”

The multi-million pound investment has seen the site reconfigured and extended to increase both efficiency and capacity – alongside state-of-the-art equipment that has transformed Cold Meece into one of the most technologically-advanced operations anywhere in the UK.

The site has been extended to include a new parts department and panel shop along with a new purpose-built smart repair workshop.

Mellor added: “We gave STL five months to complete the project and it was signed off three weeks ahead of schedule. We even managed to get cars out on the first day it was handed to us.”

Kevin Dillion, sales director at STL, said: “The Cold Meece project for Smart Fleet Solutions was the biggest contract STL has ever won and worked on. We are incredibly proud to offer a full project-management service as well as design bespoke spraybooths and a lighting service that will benefit many other STL customers going forward.

“We are delighted to enjoy a long-standing relationship with such a renowned company as Smart Fleet Solutions.”

Within weeks of the fire last October, four temporary spraybooths had been installed alongside temporary buildings to ensure Smart Fleet Solutions’ clients were unaffected.
