Research reveals top 10 crime targets
New research has found that orange vehicles are more likely to be stolen than any other, while minibuses are most common type to have a mileage discrepancy.
This is according to HPI, which has published a list of the 10 most stolen vehicle colours flagged following an HPI Check, as well as the vehicle types most likely to have been ‘clocked’.
It found that orange was the most popular colour among thieves, followed by cream, pink, white, yellow, green, black, red/blue, grey, and gold/silver.
Meanwhile, after the minibus, the vehicle types most likely to have mileage discrepancies are luxury cars, roadsters/cabriolets, compact executives, estate cars, family cars and performance cars/hot hatches, coupes, 4x4s, executive cars, and small family cars
Fernando Garcia, consumer director at HPI, said, ‘Our analysis of conducted HPI Checks reveals some fascinating vehicle insights. Customers must check before they buy to ensure that they are not buying a car that could be a danger to themselves and other motorists. Vehicle checks from HPI also reveal some shocking statistics that can affect the value of a car, including 726 cars found to have mileage discrepancies daily.’
