Rare Jaguars spotted at Heythrop Park

Some of the rarest Jaguars will be auctioned at the British Marques sale at Heythrop Park on 11 May.

E-types, XK150s and XK120s in varying conditions will go under the hammer.

The 1966 Series 1 FHC 2+2 E-type has had just one owner from September 1967. Cherished and used up to 1980 this E-type then spent the remaining 38 years in a garage prior to coming out for auction. In need of some restoration, it is estimated at £30,000 to £35,000.

Meanwhile, a matching numbers 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster has surfaced after returning from Hong Kong where it was delivered. The former custodian of the car for 36 years, had it dismantled and shipped back to the UK and put in dry storage. It was subsequently then sold on to the current vendor, who planned to restore the car, but due to more pressing projects, is now offering the car for sale for an estimated £50,000 to £70,000.

Also on sale will be one of the very few Jaguar XK150 ‘S’ available, a right-hand drive with a manual gearbox, overdrive and a 3.8 litre engine. Having been in storage since 1975, this restoration project should sell for between £45,000 to £55,000.

Buyers can also consider an unrestored 1948 Jaguar XK120, which is estimated at £35,000 to £45,000.

Arwel Richards, auction manager for the Heythrop sale said, ‘Jaguars are always a popular choice of car and in our British Marques sale we have quite a choice including these restoration projects. The XK120 is of significant interest, bearing in mind in could be one of the last unrestored examples.

‘We are looking forward to a great day of sales, as we have the Heythrop Classic Car Sale first, followed by the British Marques Sale in association with the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club later on the same day.’
