Prasco gears up for REAL Rally

Prasco UK is gearing itself up for the 2019 AutoRaise REAL Rally which gets underway thisweek and in doing so will be paying homage to arguably one of the most iconic car-related movies of all time and its own parent company in the process.

Managing director Kelvyn Waugh along with sales director Patrick Deakes and business development manager Annabelle Foster will each be taking to the high roads of Scotland aboard three sparkling Minis – bought in reference to the famed Italian Job movie where its classic driving scenes were filmed in Prasco UK’s parent company’s ‘home’ town of Turin.

Crucially, in making next week’s Durham start line, Prasco’s team has stayed true to the event’s ethos by buying three cars that, until they arrived at its Doncaster head office, had seen better days. But the team reached to their vast shelves at their 80,000sq ft distribution centre for a variety of replacement parts in order to brought the cars back to showroom condition.

Kelvyn explained, ‘We were complete REAL Rally novices last year and, if I’m honest, we were little overwhelmed by the tremendous efforts other teams had put into their cars. This year has been different and we’re representing the company in cars we’re proud of. For me, especially as we are part of Prasco’s pan-European operation, there was only one car for us, and that has to be the Mini because of its links to Turin and the Italian Job.

‘We’ve had terrific fun transforming all three cars and bringing them back to life. All three have had a variety of replacement parts fitted including new bonnets, front bumpers, wings and lights along with some suspension parts and because we have them all in stock we’ve rejuvenated the cars well within budget.’
