New details of Ghosn’s retirement package

Nissan is understood to have agreed a $40m retirement sum with Carlos Ghosn as long ago as 2012.

According to the Financial Times, the retirement package signed by current Nissan chief executive Hiroto Saikawa and including an annual salary of $4.4m rising to $6m if targets are met, ‘raises new questions about senior executives’ knowledge of their deposed chairman’s remuneration.’

The retirement settlement is also understood to have included various properties which is claimed were the subject of subsequent internal investigations by Nissan.

Carlos Ghosn is currently on bail, facing charges of financial misconduct. He has denied all charges.
