Mitsubishi names Master Technician

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has named Alan Williamson of Park’s Ayr Mitsubishi as ‘Master Technician of the Year’ following a competition held at the company’s head office in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

The competition started with a number of preliminary rounds consisting of online timed assessments and questions in September, and was open to all qualified master technicians in the Mitsubishi Motors UK dealer network. Over 140 participants were eligible, with the top six progressing to the final.

The finalists then attended a one-day competition at Mitsubishi Motors in the UK’s in-house training academy in Cirencester. A number of practical assessments were carried out, each being scored out of 100 points, before a technical quiz added to the points scored and decided the final results.

Williamson said: “I am thrilled to have won. The competition was a really tough test and I was against some really stiff competition from my fellow Master Technicians from the network. They are all great people with years of Mitsubishi experience, so to win ‘Master Technician of the year’ is a fantastic honour.”

Ray Watts, training manager, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK said: “The main reason for running the event was to find a Master Technician of the Year for the UK. This accolade is the culmination of many years training, e-learning and hard work in the dealer network. I am delighted that following a gruelling and closely fought competition we have a winner that will go to represent the UK at the European finals in Holland, we are also hoping that Alan can then go to represent the UK and Europe in the world finals in Japan later in 2020.”

Third place was awarded to Tim Tovell of Glyn Hopkin Mitsubishi, with second place going to Tom Rush, also from Glyn Hopkin Mitsubishi.
