Licence Bureau adds to training portfolio

Licence Bureau has launched two new training courses that help fleet operators keep their drivers safe whilst driving on company business.

Safe Driving and Driven to Distraction courses have been developed by in house training manager Martin Starkey to bring together the latest thinking in driver education.

Licence Bureau’s Safe Driving workshop is both eye opening and highly educational as it investigates why crashes occur using real world scenarios. The aim is for course attendees to develop new ways of thinking about driving risk and how they can avoid being involved in an incident. 

Driven to Distraction follows up on the safe driving course and helps to provide a new perspective on all the distractions drivers can face on the road and how the human brain processes information. The aim is to give drivers the skills to recognise and deal with risk from a new and invigorating perspective.

The classrooms sessions are highly interactive and last between 30 minutes and 2.5 hours (course dependent) and can accommodate up to 16 participants.

Malcolm Maycock, managing director of Licence Bureau, said, ‘We have launched these new courses in response to demand from company fleets. During 2018, according to Department for Transport, more than three times as many people were killed in incidents involving a driver/rider driving for work than those killed in traditional ‘workplace’ industry groups.

‘Driving for work is now very much a part of day-to-day life and we look forward to our courses going some way to reducing these casualty statistics.’

Licence Bureau has developed 10 courses that aim to help companies remain compliant and optimise driver safety. Other courses cover speed awareness, route planning, night driving and eco driving.
