JLR facing £8.2bn emissions bill
Jaguar Land Rover is recalling more than 44,000 cars in the UK after it was revealed that 10 models are emitting more carbon dioxide that claimed.
Further, investors are now claiming £8.2bn in damages, claiming the company should have revealed its emissions data sooner.
Regulators found that some two-litre 2016 to 2018 Land Rover Discovery and Discovery Sport cars, certain two litre Range Rover Evoque, Sport, and Velar cars well as the Jaguar E-Pace, F-Pace, F-Type, XE and XF cars were all emitting more carbon dioxide than certified.
JLR has said it will contact owners, adding that some models will need physical repairs while others will require software updates.
The company said, ‘The modifications made to affected vehicles will be made free of charge and every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to the customer during the short time required for the work to be carried out.’
