Ghosn detention extended again
Authorities in Japan have extended the detention of Carlos Ghosn until 11 January.
The former chairman of Nissan and the man responsible for establishing the alliance between Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault is facing allegations of under-reporting his Nissan salary for a period of five years.
He has been confined to Tokyo’s main detention centre since 19 November. Since then, he has been re-arrested twice over the allegations, which he denies.
The decision to extend Ghosn’s time in detention came a day before his 10-day detention period for the latest allegation expired on Tuesday, and follows the release on bail last week of former Nissan executive Greg Kelly – also accused of under-reporting Ghosn’s salary.
