EVs to be taxed from next year

Electric vehicle drivers on the Isle of Man will pay road tax from April 2020.

The tax is being introduced to cover a predicted loss of fuel tax revenue from petrol and diesel vehicles, according to Isle of Man infrastructure minister Ray Harmer.

Zero emission vehicles are currently not taxed, but will be subject to a £14 charge from next year.

There are 280 electric vehicles and 706 hybrid vehicles registered on the island.
