Covéa signs She Can Charter

Covéa Insurance has signed up to the Tech She Can Charter, which is uniting businesses from all industries to close the gender gap and increase the number of women employed in technology based roles.

According to PwC, only three per cent of females say a career in tech is their first choice, and only 16% of females have had technology suggested to them as a career, compared to 33% of males.

Covéa Insurance has pledged to support the Charter by sharing best practice and experiences of women in tech roles within their business to inspire young women to consider tech careers.  The company will also work with PwC to develop technology toolkits for schools across the UK to educate both pupils and teachers about opportunities available.

Matthew Metcalfe, senior manager, talent acquisition, at Covéa Insurance, said, ‘We’re delighted to be joining forces with PwC, along with signatories from other industries, to tackle under-representation of women working in tech.

‘This is a fantastic initiative to address a challenge that is not unique to insurance. Digital technology will play a major part in the future growth and success of most businesses, including ours, and we want to ensure that access to tech-based career opportunities is fully inclusive. This is an important D&I commitment that contributes to creating a great working environment where talent can thrive, irrespective of gender.’
