CitNOW sponsors Sytner skills challenge

CitNOW will be one of the headline sponsors of the Elite Technician Challenge, an annual competition inviting hundreds of Sytner technicians to test their skills around the workshop.

The challenge has already seen over 500 applicants from 12 brands narrowed down to 36 finalists, including the first female technician to reach the final.

This year’s competition has also seen the ‘Apprentice’ category introduced, which aims to recognise the stars of the future.

CitNOW’s involvement extends beyond the sponsorship. With the growth of video, finalists will not only be asked to identify a set of pre-programmed faults on a vehicle to demonstrate their mechanical knowledge, but will then need to record a CitNOW video for the customer.

Melvin Rogers, director of human resources at Sytner Group said, ‘Our skilled technicians are a key factor in our future success and initiatives like this not only recognise our top performers but also really set us apart from our competitors. To excel in the modern workshop, our staff combine technical expertise with strong communication skills. It’s great to have CitNOW involved in this initiative, because its video platform goes a long way to developing and deploying that skillset.’

Ollie Parsons, head of sales and client services at CitNOW, added, ‘Now in its third year, the Sytner Elite Technician Challenge is one of the best showcases of the growing talent in the workshop sector, and it’s crucial that we support and celebrate it.

‘It’s great to see video become a real marker of expertise. More and more frequently, technicians are being asked to build up a broader set of skills beyond pure mechanical knowledge. As video continues to establish itself in the workshop, presentation skills are going to be part and parcel of that growing skillset.’
