Ben responds to Honda bombshell

bodyshop charity partner Ben has reacted to the news that Honda will close its Swindon plant by reiterating that support is available for those in the automotive industry.

Carol Keller, communications director, said, ‘Political and economic unpredictability and accelerating advances in automotive technology make for a less certain future, creating an increasingly pressured environment for people working in the automotive industry – with the announcement from Honda only testament to this.

‘In a challenging world, the lifeblood of the industry, its people, must come first. As the automotive sector’s charity and support service, we’ve seen a significant increase in people worried about their mental health and wellbeing, with money problems including debt also a concern. Job losses can be a catalyst for these issues and spark a ripple effect that impacts family dependents, too. The strain of losing one job, and pressure to find another, while balancing other demands, can leave skilled people feeling stuck and anxious. We support those people, and their family dependents, with life’s toughest challenges.’
