Barnfield College promotes repair sector
The Motor Vehicle workshops at Barnfield College hosted its first event dedicated to the repair sector recently, when a network of top industry suppliers took part at its first ‘Meet the Industry’ event.
The event welcomed a range of guests from local employers, industry professionals, local motor enthusiasts and the next generation of recruits looking to join this thriving industry in Luton, all networking to share best practice and see the latest industry trends and techniques.
The workshop attracted approximately 15 industry suppliers including everything from flooring specialists Garage Style, non-structural repair training providers Cornerstone Technologies, and masking specialists J-Tape, offering live demonstrations to engage visitors and spark industry chat.
The college’s Motor Vehicle team were also on hand to offer advice to new recruits and young people looking to study the trade or enquire about apprenticeships, and a team of current Motor Vehicle students offered their insight into life in the college workshop and their plans for the future.
Subject area lead Marcel Fernandes said, ‘The Motor Vehicle industry in and around Bedfordshire and surrounding area is close knit. We know networking, sharing ideas, talking about trends and experiences is something we as training providers, our suppliers and guests all want to make time for, so it made sense to open the workshops to host an event which did just that. We are thrilled with the positive feedback from our debut event and thank everyone who came to support it.’
