AXA backs mobility strategy

AXA has praised the government for its ambition to keep the UK at the top of the mobility industry with its ‘Future of mobility: urban strategy.’

The Department for Transport’s report includes the announcement of a review into the regulation around new transport modes.

David Williams, managing director of underwriting and technical services, AXA Insurance, said, ‘It is pleasing to see the government set out its approach to keep the UK at the forefront of mobility, and to continue to develop automated vehicles, in the ‘Future of mobility: urban strategy’ policy paper.

‘AXA especially welcomes the government’s acknowledgement of the need for increased data-sharing to unlock the benefits of new innovative transport technologies. We believe that in the context of driverless vehicles these potential benefits include a reduction in road traffic accidents, better accessibility for those currently unable to drive and a boost for the UK economy.’
