FOS reports telematics complaints
The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) received up to 700 complaints about telematics insurance products last year alone.
This is according to Insurance Age.
In total, motor insurance accounted for 11,887 cases, almost identical to the 11,844 cases the year before. That represented almost a third of all insurance complaints.
The FOS said it was impossible to record the exact number of telematics complaints as there was no dedicated line for recording them. But, at between 600 and 700, the level of complaints is low considering that there are more than a million car insurance policies using telematics.
Among the complaints, some drivers said they believed the data collected by telematics black boxes was wrong, while others said their policies had increased or been cancelled because they’d not met insurer standards.
