Bodyshops using CAPS quadruples
More than 900 UK bodyshops use CAPS to exchange data securely with insurance companies and its supply chain partners.
This follows two years of rapid growth that has seen the number of users more than quadruple. This means that CAPS is the preferred data sharing standard for a sizeable proportion of UK bodyshops that undertake collision damage repair for insurance companies. It is used to exchange data on more than 100,000 claims per month.
The growth in users follows significant investment in CAPS to develop the platform for the needs of the industry. This included a major re-hosting exercise in 2017 to enhance system security and to increase transparency and user control of who sees the shared data.
David Neave, chair of the CAPS national advisory council, said, ‘The dramatic growth in the number of bodyshops using CAPS is evidence that the industry wants to work together and share information in a safe and secure environment to better serve policyholders.’
