Swansway supports new Audi A8

Swansway Accident Repair Centre has added the new Audi A8 to its list of repair specialisms.

Due out later this year, the new Audi A8 has a rear panel made of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) and Swansway ARC has been designated its UK specialist repairer. The appoint follows the Crewe based accident repair centre’s £80,000 investment last year in specialist technology to become Audi UK’s only specialist repair centre for their R8 supercar.

Swansway group director, David Smyth explained, ‘The new Audi A8 will join the R8 in using CFRP as a major construction component; this brings our accident repair centre into play again, as the re-designed Audi A8 brings with it the need for our very specialist technicians to undertake the repairs.’

He continued, ‘Martin Smith is one of only five technicians in the world who has been trained by Audi in Germany. He’s qualified and trained to use the latest ultrasound scanning technology which is needed in order to discern whether the integrity of the CFRP has been damaged.’

Every Audi R8 or A8 repair, involving possible damage to the CFRP components, will be co-ordinated by Swansway ARC, with diagnostics and repairs undertaken by specialist CFRP technician, Martin Smith.

‘It’s a real thrill to be one of only five specialist CFRP trained technicians in the world It means I get to work on amazing cars like the Audi R8 supercar and soon to be released new Audi A8. It’s a really special job,’ said Martin.
