National Windscreens opens 108th ADAS
National Windscreens has opened a new flagship fitting and calibration centre in Romford, Essex, predicting it will fast become one of its busiest sites.
The Romford centre forms part of the company’s major UK-wide investment programme to meet the massive growth in demand for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) camera calibration following windscreen replacement.
More than £2m has been invested to date in calibration technology, training and facilities.
Many ADAS features operate in conjunction with cameras mounted on windscreens meaning that, after a replacement, camera calibration is necessary to ensure the systems continue to operate as intended.
With more than 10% of vehicles on the road already featuring this technology and the majority of car manufacturers recommending calibration is carried out in workshop conditions, the demand for this workshop-based calibration service is now growing very quickly.
These new premises in Romford are a part of a commitment by National Windscreens to provide a one-stop replacement and calibration service at all 108 of its locations meaning that, on average, a UK motorist is never more than 11 miles or 20 minutes from a technician.
Mark Payne, the operations director responsible for the Romford fitting and calibration centre, said: ‘As this centre is so near to the M25, which carries some 200,000 vehicles a day, it is likely to be extremely busy. These new premises offer the space required to service this level of demand and to house the calibration equipment now required to complete this vital work according to manufacturer specifications in workshop conditions.
‘Now the millions of motorists who use this busy road can get their windscreen replacement and calibration completed in a single visit and drive away safely with assurance that their vehicle’s safety features are working as intended.
‘I’m sure this new centre at Romford, which also has plenty of parking and easy access from the M25, will soon become one of National Windscreens’ busiest centres due to its prime location and market-leading facilities.’
