IMI to introduce e-learning for EVs
The Institute of the Motor Industry is working on e-learning modules to address the skills gap in the industry, particularly surrounding electric vehicles (EVs).
Only one per cent of technicians in the UK are qualified to work on EVs, and the danger that poses to both technicians and customers is only going to increase as more EVs hit the market.
Barry Williams, regional business development manager – south, said, ‘For us, EVs are the future and they need to be repaired on in a safe manner. The IMI already has a range of products and we’re now also moving to an e-learning based system where you can buy bite-sized amounts of training to cover what you need.’
The modules are being developed now.
