Garmin makes it a hat-trick
Garmin has made it a hat-trick of new initiatives within the automotive sector with a new infotainment interface, intelligent driving technology and a tie up with Peugeot-Citroën.
Garmin has expanded its intelligent driving video recorder (IDVR) technology with Chinese automotive manufacturing partner Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën (DPCA). IDVR technology records high quality footage and boasts advanced driver assistance systems such as forward collision and lane departure warnings. DPCA plans to preinstall the Garmin IDVR to a diversified list of future Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën vehicle models.
A partnership with the Citroën brand will brings Garmin’s IDVR technology (ConnectedCAM Citroën) into the new Citroën C3 car model. The system arrives factory-installed and fully integrated in C3 rear-view mirrors to record what drivers can see. The ConnectedCAM Citroën is Wi-Fi connected to a dedicated application available for both Apple and Android services.
Garmin has also refined its Lenexa infotainment interface with tactile physical controls dedicated to specific functions inside a vehicle. Lenexa’s control scheme relies on muscle memory to minimise the need for drivers to glance away from the road.
