eBay restores a classic

eBay Restoration Live returned to the Silverstone Classic over the weekend restoring a classic 1984 Ford Capri in just three days, using parts and accessories bought from eBay.co.uk.

A team of expert mechanics, led by racing driver and car restorer Fergus Walkinshaw, brought the 33-year-old, 2.8 Injection Capri back to life live in front of festival-goers. Started on Friday morning, the car was shown off as part of Mike Brewer’s Car Clinic on Sunday.

The finished car will then be auctioned on eBay at www.ebay.co.uk/restolive, with all proceeds going to the event’s official charity Prostate Cancer UK.

The mechanics carried out a full engine service, repairs to the suspension, drivetrain and braking system, and repairs to rust and dents on the bodywork.

This year, Fergus’ team of five also included a mechanic from Mission Motorsport, a charity which aids the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through motorsport.

Mike Brewer, who supported the mechanics throughout the weekend, said, ‘It was fantastic to watch such a hard-working, dedicated team of mechanics headed up by Fergus, over the three days. These guys are at the top of their game and it’s a privilege to watch them at work on such an iconic car.’

The finished car is now being sold to the highest bidder on eBay at www.ebay.co.uk/restolive, with all proceeds going to the event’s official charity Prostate Cancer UK.
