Mapfre: rules are changing
The rules are changing was the message from insurer giant Mapfre at this year’s IBIS Global Summit 2016.
Taking to the stage in front a full global audience, Gregorio Rodriguez Santos, business and customer director for EMEA, Mapfre Internacional told delegates that innovation was key as the automotive claims market undergoes changes in the ‘rules of the game’.
The global insurer has a presence in five continents with more than 34 million customers worldwide. That diversity plays a vital role in a key strategy of the business, innovation, and it employs ‘think tanks’ and has established an ‘innovation community’ to share knowledge and ideas across the globe.
‘This is brand new,’ says Gregorio, ‘but innovation has been happening for years within our company. Any best practice that we export or import is an innovation for us.’
Its innovation projects are divided into three groups, local projects, global projects and corporate projects.
Gregorio also pointed to the IoT – internet of things – as well as other challenges such as a general ageing population as causes for ‘deep transformational impacts on our business’. He went on to question, ‘Will some markets disappear?’
The IBIS Global Summit 2016 is being held at the Hilton Diagonal Mar, Barcelona on 23-25 May. The event is supported by official partners: 3M, AkzoNobel, Audatex, Belron, EMM, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Fastcare and Fix Auto World.
