If the CAPS fits
CAPS Consortium has appointed John O’Roarke as chairman of its advisory board.
John joins from LV= General Insurance, where he had been managing director for more than a decade. Before that he was chief operating officer at RBS Insurance and managing director of Churchill Insurance.
As chairman, John will drive the development of the CAPS advisory board to ensure that the goals of standardisation and continuous improvement for the benefit of the end users continue. He will take a lead role in identifying and approaching key industry figures to sit on the board to help CAPS achieve its goal of being the industry standard for the secure transfer of data for all parties in the motor claims supply chain.
John said, ‘I am delighted to accept this position because CAPS plays a vital role in motor insurance by providing repairers and insurers with a single, secure point of integration for all repair and rental data. As chairman of the advisory board, it’s my intention to make sure that CAPS remains a self-funding, independent, open and secure data standard for the benefit of the entire industry.’
CAPS, the organisation behind the Common Automotive Platform Standard, is an open IT communications gateway between more than 500 bodyshops, their work providers, insurer customers and the claims applications they choose to use to manage their business more efficiently.
It provides a uniform connection between multiple bodyshops and their work providers, enabling easy communication and secure transfer of data irrespective of the management system. CAPS enables the flow of repair and rental updates from the management system to the work provider via their application of choice.
