Ford continues sales increase
Ford increased sales in November as it maintained its lead in total vehicle, car and commercial vehicle sales.
Ford claims car retail sales outpaced the industry, whilst Ford commercial vehicle (CV) sales were more than double those of its nearest rival.
According to the official November sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT): Ford is the UK market leader in total vehicle, car and CV sales; Fiesta is UK best-seller; Transit Custom first in CV sales and Transit range is second in UK total vehicle sales; and Ford CV sales surpassed 110,000 registrations year-to-date.
Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said, ‘The UK market’s robust growth was evident across all sectors in November, and it is particularly rewarding to see Ford strengthening its leadership position.’
The official figures released by the SMMT show that total car sales in November were up 2.9% to 184,101 units, compared with November 2015. Ford car sales were up 1.6% at 21,944. For the year to date (end November) total UK car sales were 2,514,764, up 2.5% compared with the same period in 2015. Ford car sales for this period were 297,575, some 63,000 registrations ahead of its nearest rival.
