eBay challenge gears up
eBay has unveiled the three classic restoration projects to take part in the first ever eBay Car Challenge.
The finalists – a Volkswagen Beetle (owner Robyn Avis-Smith), Riley Kestrel 1300 (owner Charlie Renwick) and Mk3 Triumph GT6 (owner David Newell) – will be transformed over the next three months using only parts and accessories from eBay.
Hundreds of amateur restorers applied to take part in the eBay Car Challenge with the chosen three receiving £4,000 each to spend on eBay. The restorers will now lavish all their attention on their vehicles in preparation for the final reveal in July.
Murray Lambell, director of retail car parts and accessories, eBay, said, ‘with a VW that needs a whole new interior, a Riley Kestrel which needs a suspension overhaul to get it back on the road, and a Mk3 Triumph GT6 facing some challenging rust issues, eBay’s unbeatable selection means it is both easy and simple for these restorers to bring their cars back to life. I personally can’t wait to see the end result.’
