WorldSkills – Ryan has done us proud
Sunday evening saw the closing ceremony at the World Skills Competition in São Paulo, where Just Car Clinics Apprentice Panel Technician, Ryan Jones had been competing for the last four days in the Autobody category.
Going into the final two days of competition over the weekend, Ryan suffered a setback on day three that proved to be a tough day for him. Ryan’s Father, Gavin has been reporting back from Brazil on his son’s progress saying, nothing was going to plan on the penultimate day. That evening he had to re assess the situation and think about his game plan ahead of the final day.
Full of determination going into day four, Ryan worked incredibly hard. He had just four hours remaining to repair the roof, bonnet and to weld the chassis leg inner wing. The bonnet was required to be repaired to a metal finish proving to be the hardest part to complete in the time remaining. Ryan dug deep and performed astonishingly in the final hours.
The rest of Team UK that had finished their event gathered around the booth and as the final bell rang let off an almighty cheer, described as ‘Out of this world’ by Gavin. The atmosphere and emotion was at an extreme with tears flowing all around.
Unfortunately, Ryan didn’t finish in the medal positions but one thing is for sure that the whole of Just Car Clinics are extremely proud of his achievements and performance in this competition in which preparations started over two years ago.
We now can’t wait for Ryan to return to the UK so we can tell him in person how proud of him we are. Well Done Ryan.
