GALM attracts TATA and Hexion

TATA and Hexion are set to unveil latest composites and steel grades at the fourth annual Global Automotive Lightweight Materials (GALM) Congress 2015.

At the Annual Global Automotive Lightweight Materials Congress 2015 (London, 29th-30th April), material suppliers, Tier 1s and material suppliers will outline how to forge partnerships that will ensure automotive-grade lightweight materials can be provided in abundance at a viable cost for mass-manufacturing.

Chris Wooffindin, product marketing manager, TATA Steel, will present break-through chassis grades of ultra-high strength steel, outlining global availability and options for new partnerships with OEMs.

Whilst Roman Hillermeier, transportation technology manager, Hexion, will reveal the latest thermoset matrix technologies for structural composite parts, explaining how cycle times can be optimised to match market volume requirements and reduce costs. In addition, Roman will assess the latest ability to recycle and recover composites to meet European end of life directive targets.

There will also be a keynote presentation from Carsten Finkeldey, head of body planning C-Class, Mercedes-Benz introducing the cost, supply and manufacturing factors behind the material selection and design choices for the vehicle, as well as a whole host of other speakers.
