All Stars on target for £5k

Following a dramatic 7-5 victory at Carrow Road, home of Norwich City FC, Remit’s Steve Plunkett is well on the way to raising £5,000 for Norfolk based charity, The Peoples Tree.

The game saw two ex-Norwich City stars play the full game, with 1985 Milk Cup winner Peter Mendham playing for the Plunkys All Stars CF team and 1996 UEFA Cup Finalist, Cedric Anselin playing for the @FNF FLK Mercenaries FC.

The event was held to raise money for a new Norfolk based charity called The Peoples Tree, which is launching in the area. Steve said, ‘The charity needs £5,000 to able to register. Thanks to everyone that has supported us to date. Peter Mendham is over the moon at our efforts and is now very close to getting The Peoples Tree registered so that he can start putting the money raised to good use in the community.’

Peter added, ‘The Peoples Tree means so much to me because it is local people that will be supported in their time of need. I have experienced first-hand homelessness and I have also suffered from stress and depression. Many of us have all at one time had mental health problems. Our charity will have time for these people.’

The event donated the two team kits to The Craig Bellamy Foundation, a football school that is based in Sierra Leone.

Steve added, ‘I have been asked if we will be back next year to do it all over again and the answer is yes. We will be supporting an Alzheimers charity in 2016. While the legs are willing, why not?’
