New solution halves vehicle downtime

A Volvo dealer has halved vehicle downtime for customers since investing in a new wheel alignment solution that can be used on site and as a mobile service.

Thomas Hardie Commercials, based in the north of England and Wales, invested in a Josam Cam-aligner from Automotive Equipment Solutions (AES UK).

The solution uses wireless technology to transmit data between measuring units and a computer, while the software guides the user through the measuring process and produces reports of before and after alignment.

Meanwhile, in-depth training was delivered to the entire Thomas Hardie technical team, to ensure a smooth integration and best use of the technology.

Chris Whalley, group truck and bus manager, said: “It has enabled us to take wheel alignment completely in-house. In addition, we can now go to the customer for wheel alignment rather than have them bring their vehicles to us. This has seen customer vehicle downtime half, and the accuracy of the tracking is also saving our customers money as our data shows that identifying and replacing worn steering components can add up to 10% extra mpg to a vehicle, which is a huge difference.”
