Latest acquisition continues consolidation trend

The consolidation of the UK automotive aftermarket has continued with Fix Auto Swansea West acquiring Pontypridd bodyshop S&F Motors.

The deal has continued a busy period in terms of acquisitions and expansion. This month alone Gemini ARC has completed the acquisition of NCR Bodyshops, Steer Automotive has purchased Chartwell and M&A Coachworks, and Solus ARC and FMG Repair Services have both announced significant expansions.

The Pontypridd site, renamed Fix Auto Pontypridd, is a 4,000 sqft facility with a spraybooth and six workbays, employing a team of 16.

Fix Auto Pontypridd

Fix Auto Swansea West co-owner Matthew Davies said: “When we joined Fix Auto UK 12 months ago we expressed our determination and drive to become a multi-site operator and expand our business and I am delighted to say we have achieved that first goal.  The Fix Auto Pontypridd centre really is perfectly positioned to meet not only our needs, but those of Fix Auto UK.”

Fellow co-owner Paul Gravell added: “We started out repairing one car at a time during Covid. That was less than five years ago and we both have to pinch ourselves when we stand back and realise just what we’ve achieved in that short time.

“We have received tremendous advice and support from family, friends and colleagues who’ve helped to make it happen for us but, as we’ve previously said, this really is just the start of our plans to continually grow and develop.”
